Beauty at the beach! Spend 4 oceanfront days in Ocean City, Maryland, at your hotel directly on the beach! We’ve designed this itinerary to give you a jumpstart on summer with surf, sand and wild island ponies mixed plenty of rest and relaxation. We’ll return to the hotel most afternoons for you to take full advantage of the oceanfront, boardwalk location and to enjoy elegant afternoon tea at the hotel. It’s summertime and the livin’ is easy!
Day 1 - Ocean City Awaits (T, D)
Your summer truly begins when you check into the Dunes Manor Hotel, featuring oceanfront rooms, each with a private balcony and water view. Experience the grand style of Ocean City’s Victorian Era with afternoon tea on the verandah
overlooking the ocean. When you’re ready for excitement, the famous Ocean City Boardwalk is only a short block away...as the rest of Ocean City awaits! Tonight, dine at your leisure, with an included dinner in the hotel’s Victorian Dining Room.
Day 2 - Wild Ponies & Berlin (B, T)
Today we journey south to Assateague Island, one of the barrier islands off the coast of Maryland and Virginia. The Assateague Island National Seashore is a National Park, and the home of sandy beaches, salt marches, maritime forests,
coastal bays and of course, the fabled Assateague Ponies. On a guided driving tour, we’ll search the park for wild ponies and other wildlife. From Assateague, we’ll cross the Sinepuxent Bay to Berlin. No, not that Berlin, but the Berlin located just inland of the coast and named “America’s Coolest Small Town” by Budget Travel Magazine. Learn about the area’s Algonquian history and the highlights that attract thousands of tourists every year. Stroll the downtown district along Main Street, with many unique restaurants and shops. We’ll return to our hotel in time for Afternoon Tea, with the rest of the day to relax!
Day 3 – Lifeguards and More Ponies (B)
Learn about the heroic men and women, the beach’s bravest, and the world of lifeguarding at the Life-Saving Museum. This afternoon, see Assateague from a different perspective as we cruise around the island, hoping to witness the wild ponies on the sand. We’ll even disembark for a brief beach walk! Explore the Ocean City boardwalk for lunch and dinner on your own. Your tour director can help you find the best spots!
Day 4: Smith Island (B, L, T)
The island hopping continues today, as we cruise to Smith Island, located almost in the center of the Chesapeake Bay. The island is only accessible by boat, with no bridges to or airstrips on the island. After docking on Smith, enjoy a Maryland
crab lunch at the Bayside Restaurant before strolling the winding streets and experiencing the quaint, bay lifestyle of this tranquil island. After the return cruise back to Ocean City, the rest of the day is yours.
Day 5 – Home by Way of Moshulu (B, L)
After a relaxed morning, depart Ocean City for Philadelphia where we will have lunch in the elegant dining room aboard the Moshulu, the only restaurant in the world operating on a Tall Ship. Arrive home today with wonderful memories.
