Dutch Masterpieces at The Met - New Exhibit

See The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s newly curated, limited time exhibit celebrating the Dutch Golden Age! Featuring Rembrandt, Vermeer, Hals and the trailblazing Dutch artists of the 17th century, the exhibit features roughly 75 works that are typically on display in separate parts of the museum. Now presented side by side, these masterpieces produce a visually compelling narrative that also acts as part of the redesign of the Museum’s first floor galleries. The highly varied pieces will unite a number of rarely exhibited paintings - some from private collections - together with some of the Museum’s greatest paintings. The collection presents a remarkable chapter of art history in a new light, highlighting many of history’s most celebrated artists.  On a guided tour of the exhibit, see many notable pieces including Rembrandt’s selfportrait, the exceptional quality of which will be even more evident following a recent restoration. You’ll also behold Vermeer’s Young Woman with a Water Pitcher and Vase of Flowers by Margaret Haverman, the only early modern Dutch woman in the collection. Before the museum, enjoy a four-course, family-style lunch at Tony’s Di Napoli  restaurant, an Upper East Side favorite.
