Reminiscent of a medieval French castle, Grey Towers stands tall above the Baltimore River, flanked by a pair of conical towers on either side, giving the building its name. Once the home of Gifford Pinchot, the first Chief of the US Forest Service and two-time Governor of Pennsylvania, Grey Towers is a National Historic Landmark bursting with allure, glamour and history. Enjoy a guided tour of the house, located in Milford, Pennsylvania, near the border of NJ and NY. Enter into the Great Hall filled with antiques and décor that recreate how the family lived.
Visit the sitting room, library and Mr. Pinchot’s office. See the parlor piano, a riding saddle tossed on the couch, a sailor cap perched on a set of elk antlers, colossal Oriental rugs, original furniture carved with Bible scenes and much more. Continue exploring the mansion, walking to see the gardens, outer buildings, the moat, reflection pool and the “Finger Bowl,” an incredible outdoor dining area where guest were seated around the raised rim of a pool, floating platters of food across the water during meals.
Begin the day with an elegant farm to table luncheon at the historic Hotel Fauchere. Lunch will be served in their Delmonico Dining room with stately leather banquettes and an extensive collection of paintings adorning the walls.
