Escape the winter in Myrtle Beach for fun, sun and spectacular sunsets from your private ocean view balcony overlooking the beach!

Day 1: Richmond, Virginia (D) Today we journey through five states en route to Richmond, VA. Upon arrival, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the historic city, including St. John’s Church where Patrick Henry gave his famous speech “Give me liberty or give me death.” Dinner will be held at the historic Tobacco Company Restaurant, a restored, historic tobacco factory. Rest and relax at the comfortable Hampton Inn & Suites hotel.

Day 2: Myrtle Beach Begins! (B, D) Your beach escape begins barefoot! Not really, but you’ll board the Barefoot Princess Riverboat for a sunset cruise along the Myrtle Beach Intracoastal Waterway. Panoramic windows and an open air top deck offer sweeping, sunset views of South Carolina’s famous Grand Strand. Enjoy dinner aboard featuring southern foodie favorites, with music and dancing! The night continues with the ONE The Show, for an enchanting evening at the acclaimed Alabama Theater.

Your Myrtle Beach home will be the oceanfront Dayton House Resort, where your one-bedroom suite includes an private oceanview balcony!

Day 3: Low Country and Gullah (B) Explore Low Country at Brookgreen Gardens, featuring sculptures, a wildlife preserve, and the Low country Zoo. On a private tour, you’ll stroll this National Landmark, learn about the wildlife and experience the culture of the Gullah Geeche, a local people tracing back to Africa.

After lunch on your own, see a different side of Brookgreen on an afternoon cruise through historic rice fields, home to alligators, osprey and more wildlife.

Tonight, enjoy the vibrant Barefoot Landing for dinner on your own before the curtain goes up at The Carolina Opry. The only show to be voted #1 show for 30 years, TCO blends music, comedy and dance with state-of-the-art effects.

Day 4: Be a Beach Bum Under a Yella Umbrella or Optional Day in Charleston (B) Today is yours to relax and relish on your own. Pick a chaise lounge on the beach or lawn, shaded by your very own Yella Umbrella! Or, choose an optional day trip to Charleston, considered by many to be the Capital of the South. With a local guide, discover this beautifully preserved treasure including many landmarks, 18th century homes and the 220 year old City Market. Enjoy lunch at Hyman’s Seafood, rated #1 in the Southeast, 9 years in a row by Southern Living Magazine.

Day 5: Hopsewee Plantation and Southern High Tea (B, T) Southern Charm comes to life at the Hopsewee Rice Plantation. Still a private residence, the house is a typical low country rice plantation, built 40 years before the Revolutionary War. The gracious property is the epitome of the picturesque south, featuring a winding river and moss-hung trees. On a guided tour, learn the history of the Patriots and Planters of Hopsewee.

One of the property’s outbuildings is the River Oak Cottage, where you’ll enjoy elegant High Tea with Southern inspiration. Served on fine china and white linen in southern style, savor a delectable assortment of savories, sweets and many varieties of tea.

Day 6: Ashland, VA (B, D) After a leisurely morning and a last stroll on the beach, bid farewell to Myrtle Beach. We journey north to Ashland, Virginia, making stops along the way to stretch our legs and grab lunch on your own. After arriving at our hotel, enjoy dinner at Cracker Barrel.

Day 7: Homeward Bound (B) Take the relaxation of the south home with you as you go along for the ride, homeward bound. Compare souvenirs and pictures with your fellow travelers and new beach memories made with new friends.
